Central Park

Please note that this page has 8 photos in it and will take more than 3 minutes to download so please be patient. There will be no thumbnails on this page. So while you are waiting for the all the pictures to come out, why not take your time to read what I have written below.

Central Park is beautiful. Especially when the ponds and lakes are frozen. Had it snow, I think it would be even more beautiful. Central Park is actually quite big, it’s about 2 miles by ½ mile. It’s amazing that in a big and busy city like New York, they would reserve a place as big as Central Park for it’s people. There are many statues, sculptures and places of interest. Many people walk their dogs and jog here.

“The Lake” was actually quite frozen that day, enough for me to walk on top of it. I didn’t venture far though, only about 10 feet from the banks but it was frozen as far as I could see.

In addition to the horse carriage rides, there a many Chinese doing portrait for about $10. I went for the cheaper ($5) and faster (3 minutes) caricature. There were also many people selling photographs of New York along with the famous hot-dog stands.

Horse carriage ride at $34 for the first half hour and $15 for every 15 minutes after that.

Behind is the double-decker tour bus from Apple Tours.

“The Pond” is partly frozen. Temp is about 2º C. Nearer to the bridge, the ice stops.

The opposite side from the photo above. This side is all frozen.

Here under the bridge, “The Pond” is not frozen and there are many people feeding the ducks with bread.

Further up north, there is a skating rink. Not cheap and yet the queue is very long.

Playmates Arch.
