World Trade Center

Please note that this page has 9 photos in it and will take more than 2 minutes to download so please be patient. There will be no thumbnails on this page. So while you are waiting for the all the pictures to come out, why not take your time to read what I have written below.

World Trade Center, once the highest building in the world. No longer but it still has the world highest roof-top observatory on the 110th floor. The queue to go up is very long. You could wait for an hour to get your tickets and up to another 2 hours to get up on peak seasons like a week before New Year’s Eve. I went on the week after New Year to avoid the crowd. Security is tight. Before you go up, all bags and personal belongings go thru the X-ray machine while you go thru the metal detectors. I guess after the bombing in the early 1990s, they are not taking any chances. There is an observatory on the 107th floor with a souvenir shop and food court. They have fast food chains like Sbarro but at slightly higher prices than the those on ground level.

On the 107th floor, there is this interesting coin machine. You put in a penny (1 cent) and 2 quarters (25 cents). Then turn the wheel to press the penny into different designs. There are 6 of them, all which can be seen above. And it’s all legal too. Cheap but great souvenirs.

This is on the 1st floor roof.

This is one of the cold days. Much colder than it looks.

All dressed up.

Right on top of the roof at the 110th Floor observatory. Top Of The World!

East view.

North-east view. Manhattan is diagonally tipping a little to the East.

North-east view blocked by a happy tourist.

South-west view. Statue of Liberty is about 15 minutes by ferry but it sure looks far away (and tiny).
